Toby Butlin founded our sister company Marine Decking Services back in 2010 after having many years of continued success in the marine industry. Together with his wife Shelley Butlin, their love for all things marine has led them to pursue a range of boat carpet options to offer their customers and adding to their portfolio of marine flooring products.
Marine Boat Carpets was therefore founded and is a small, family run company offering clients a very personal and professional service with their 30 years of combined knowledge in the Marine Industry.
Marine life is in Toby’s blood, as a young boy he remembers helping his dad with maintenance jobs on the boats, later developing into marine engineering on boats. Toby went on to work at Northshore Boat Yard in Itchenor, West Sussex undertaking boat building and gel coat repairs. This early start paved the way for him to develop as a bit of a boating expert. He brings this knowledge to the job and as one of his customers, you will benefit from this wealth of expertise.
In his previous positions, Toby has travelled not only within the UK but also to Europe templating and fitting composite decking on boat decks. In addition to managing and running a successful workshop in which he was responsible for training staff how to build boat decks and monitoring their development. He also has a wide range of boat maintenance skills including anti-fouling and teak decking. He now concentrates on composite decking as this is where his immense skill lies. With a meticulous eye for detail, he has been able to excel in the art unrivalled in his ability to work hard, deliver to tight deadlines and he prides himself on a stream of very happy customers.
As an avid boat enthusiast, Toby has worked for the Chichester Harbour Conservancy patrolling the harbour waters as well as attaining the RYA Powerboats Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
